What we need
In order to carry out a Needs assessment, we require up-to-date clinical reports setting out:

The nature and extent of disability due to injury
The prognosis including:

  1. prospects for further improvement
  2. further treatment/operations planned
  3. risk of deterioration in later life.

REPORTS FOR QUANTIFICATION

FUTURE CARE REPORT:
Sets out for litigation purposes the future care needs of the injured party.

CASE MANAGEMENT REPORT:
Sets out for litigation purposes the long-term needs of the injured party for a Case Manager, including the related needs for rehabilitation and therapy.

EQUIPMENT REPORT:
Sets out for litigation purposes the main items of equipment that may be required by the injured party together with any related Occupational Therapy needs.

OVERVIEW OF FUTURE NEEDS:
This is to provide a broad view of future needs in order to help decide if an offer to settle is reasonable.

INA:
These reports are related to the Rehabilitation Code. The intention is to identify the way forward from the point at which the report is instructed, in order to get the process of rehabilitation and/or treatment under way.

GENERIC FUTURE NEEDS REPORT:
These are the traditional Needs Reports which we have provided in cases coming to the Scottish Courts. They seek to set out in sufficient detail for litigation purposes the broad range of future needs including rehabilitation, care, case management, equipment/adaptations, and extra living expenses.

PAST CARE LETTER:
This is to outline what family members or other relevant parties say they have provided and to consider the reasonableness of this in the light of the condition and the extent to which it is extra care, which was reasonably necessary, and which was occasioned by the injury.

In commissioning a report, it is important to consider:
Whether it will be sufficiently detailed and comprehensive
Whether the reporter will have the relevant (non-litigating) clinical experience to be convincing in court

We offer:
Extensive medico-legal experience
Proven track record
Clinically experienced associates
Detailed reporting

Needs reports:
Require thorough preparation
Require a home visit
Are time consuming
Require costs database and additional research

In a recent survey, our Needs Reports were considered "good value" or "adequate value" by all respondents.

If you have a client who you consider may benefit from our services please contact us.

In order to make a referral for a Needs we require a written referral accompanied by any relevant medical records and case reports. On receipt of this information, which we shall acknowledge and start to progress the case.

Cost:
As regards cost, on receipt of clinical reports we can give an estimate for an individual case.
